Contextual Research For Brief 2, information from Logo Type Book by Michael Evamy

Darren Scott designed this typeface for the digital type magazine FUSE in 1995. These are the original sketches for the typeface. Scott has created a code like glyph which is relevant to my project Brief 2 on my theme 'cryptic'. I could perhaps research into cryptic codes.
Information found on Google research.

Research from Logo Type Book by Michael Evamy

Santarelli and Co. is an advertisement agency in France Designed by Studio Apeloig. I wanted to include this into my research as I feel reminds me of cryptic codes. The idea of playing with letterforms and introducing negative space. I could adapt this into my practise by perhaps experimenting with tape and creating an idea of a code.

Fashion Human Rights initiative, USA/India designed by de.MO. This is relevent to my design practise Brief 2 as the design reminded me of attaching stars. I could apply this idea by creating letterforms onto pictures of stars and perhaps creating connections.

MAK cents, Art and architecture centre, USA, Designed by Made in Space, 2005.

Strum, Music workshop, UK, Designed by hat-trick 2001

The blur effect is an interesting technique which I wanted to include for my 'Cryptic' project as it could be suggested as misread, hard to read.
To develop my practise further I could apply a blur effect to my designs to create something unreadable.

Fashion Fringe, Annual fashion contest, UK, Designed by Pentagram, 2006.

All of these logos include a cropping element to them which I could consider for developing my idea of cryptic. Its interesting how some words are cut in certain places, however are still readable. I could adapt this technique towards my practise.
