Fashion Photography Research

As a designer, my practise has developed by exploring more of the fashion editorial route. This explores layouts and compositions as well as typefaces which are relevant as well as producing content which is relevant.

As apart of a collaborative brief, the collaboration was with a fashion photographer.

An amount of research into fashion photography was needed.

For the project, the project was personal to me by exploring identity. The photography explores women of colour, to empower them within the Western society.

Fashion photography explores women of colour, empowers woman of colour and celebrates the Eastern and Western culture, how these two cultures have become a new culture in todays society.

With this photography piece, the artists explores the cultural appropriation of the combination if the Eastern and Western Culture. To develop my practise further, I could include photography which is included in a studio space, however with printed fabric to convey this aesthetic. 

Cultural Appropriation within Fashion industry 

Gigi Hadid wore a hijab in the issue and was accused of cultural appropriation. Part of the criticism of Gigi's cover was her silence about being muslim, except for in times where it was appropriate.

Throughout this year, Research and concept has become very important within Design. As a designer this has been a factor which I have worked on to produce work with meaning and concept.
