Language is something that is agreed. Type is a visual
understanding.
The definition of typography:
The art and technique of printing with movable type.
The composition of printed material from movable type.
The arrangement and appearance of printed matter.
The language was spoken to then created into writing- A
record of language.
A whole range of documents: people physically represent it. Type is speech made visible. Language
considered social, political, culture, to create complexity of type.
Typography is the craft of endowing human language with a
durable visual form. Type is what languages looks like.
The Rosetta stone- discovered in 1799. This contained Egyptian,
Greek writing. The stone produced as an agreement. Language translated through
symbols. Greek is close to English.

Where type originated from
In 1870s reading was a privilege to a few. It was used
firstly for education use. Therefore, this was a selective training.
All that is necessary for any language to exist is an
agreement amongst a group of people that one thing will stand for another.
In this sense, the first true alphabet was the Greek
alphabet, which was adapted from Phoenician. Latin, the most widely used
alphabet today, is a further development of Greek.

gathering of related subjects and methodologies that include sociology,
linguistics, psychology, and aesthetics.
