Brief 3: Final Outcome

Final Outcome

The aims for the project creates a sense of celebration which is simple and effective. The colour palette chosen is limited and convey the meaning with the application.

The idea stemmed from the initial idea process. For example, researching into OKRM was a main influence for the project. The CMYK idea initiated through the investigation of screen printing.

The name Substrate stems from the definition of screen printing. Screen printing is a printing technique where by a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil.

The typeface used for the title is the Circlular STD Bold (kerning 80), and for the body is Andale Mono. The Circlular STD Bold typeface was chosen influenced through circles from the mesh screens. The Andale Mono compliments well with this typeface.

The colour scheme is focusing on CMYK: cyan, magenta, yellow and black.

For the outcomes deliveries, the printed copies will be traditionally printed onto a white background. Whereas digital outcomes will be printed onto a black background.

Logo:

The logo was influenced through the idea of layers from the process of screen printing. The corners address the idea of the frame of a screen.

Poster:

The poster uses a white background due to cost issues. This will ensure a cheaper cost. The gradient fill in the circles show the process of printing. It also represents the idea of each screen print appearing to be unique and individual.
Flyer:

The flyers relate to the same aesthetics as the poster. However the details appear on the back. This creates focus on the logo which will be more recognised.

Catalogue:

The catalogue appears in different sections addressed through colour. The category Humanities is represented through the colour Yellow. The Art category is shown through the Magenta tone. The category science is addressed through Cyan.

Mock ups of what the brochure will appear as. The brochure will appear as A5 size copy.

Social Media:

Social Media was the main focus. The instagram page is filled with Gifs produced. The theme runs through keeping within the colour theme. The aspect of Snapchat has been applied as well as addressing an event on Facebook.

E-invite:

Emailed invite shows a personal quality, which will make the audience feel welcomed and that they were personality invited.

Wayfinding:

The way finding introduces the concept of arrows in a layered format with the four colour ways. This will be presented within the building to show where the exhibition will be held.

This design will be placed for each category. Below each design will be a code which you can scan in and this will reveal information about the designer.

This is a mock up to show where the way finding will be placed.

Feedback:

The feedback given was the concept was bright and lively however the logo needs more work and refining. The logo compared to the other elements comes across bland. Perhaps explore other features of printing rather than focusing on screen printing.
