Initial Ideas: Thumbnail Sketches
Designing clothes Tags, exploring different layouts. These layouts were influenced by PrettyLittleThing and Ivy Park clothes layouts. As these fashion tags convey a contemporary, urban approach.
Exploring Initial Ideas for layout concepts. The first Idea shows the idea of combining illustrations of blossom trees
The second idea shows the concept of fragmentation, to convey the idea of division.
The third Idea is Nostalgic imagery, Nostalgia conveying the idea of feeling homesick and lost.
The forth idea was applying photography of flowers and collaging this on top. This creates the idea of layers, not belonging to one.
The fifth idea explores the idea of incorporating Arabic within the layouts. Perhaps include a gradient fill to convey the message of resistance.
The concept of division: Black, Asian, and Arab. This idea is explored for the publication layout, categorising each top to fit into a certain bracket area. The start of the publication will start with the definition for Diversity. This will finish on the definition for complexity. The reasoning of doing this will address change, that we are ALL complex people and should not be divided.
Creating a layout which includes the Questionnaire. The layout has to be consistent and repetitive. It will have a sequence and a pattern to keep the reader engaged.
Binding techniques
*Japanese stitch to relate to the idea of "oriental"
*minimalistic approach signify the concept of one.
*Investigate into more complex Japanese style, however feedback received suggested this will loose the concept of one and stereotypical nature.
*This thumbnail explores the position, how the bind will fit into the layouts produced through thumb sketches above.
Creating a structure for each section. Perhaps each section will explore a different concepts.
*Perhaps this idea is overdoing it.
*Feedback stated that the photography pieces were strong and these concepts may break the idea of the statement tops. It might create parody with the tops which may convey another message. It will take away the seriousness of the project.
