This booklet is an example of registration print. The images were printed onto a thick card which printed onto a multi-bind booklet. The paper quality was smooth but a clean white which ensured the photos are clear and clinical.
This magazine was a series of posters folded up to create a booklet. The paper was newsprint, a fragile paper to make it easier to separate and keep together. The process included Spot colours.
Printing onto coated paper which will make the ink harder to absorb. The finish allows a shiny, smooth surface.

Pantone and Spot Colours
Graphic designers use spot colours to ensure that a particular colouring a design will print. This is necessary when the colour is outside the gamut of the four possibilities of CMYK. Special colours have a greater intensity and vibrancy as they print as a solid colour rather than one that is composed of half-tone dots.
Spot Colours and CMYK
The left example is printed as a fluorescent PM 806 spot colour its nearest CMYK version is printed on the left. The process colour is much duller than the spot colour version as it is made half-tone dots of colour, where as the special colour is applied as a flat colour. The colour version uses 50% magenta and no colour therefore does not give the same intensity, it prints as a tint.

Kiss Cutting
This is a die cutting method often used with self-adhesive substrates, whereby the face stock is dies cut but not its backing sheet, to ensure the easy removal of cut stock. Kiss Cutting is commonly seen in the production of stickers. The artwork supplied for kiss cutting needs to include a cutter guides.A common form of kiss cut is called Crack back, which is a brand produced by Fasson.
